Genuine. Alpine. Warm-hearted. Over the past half-century, the Almhotel Bergerhof has grown from a traditional mountain inn into a modern 3-star walking hotel, without ever losing its roots. In the very heart of the Sarntal, we offer a retreat that blends alpine cosiness with contemporary comfort and a deeply personal touch.
The Bergerhof inn in earlier days
The story of today's Almhotel Bergerhof in the Sarntal is closely tied to the hard work and vision of the Kofler family. It all began in the early 1970s, when Anna and Georg Kofler laid the foundations of a warm hospitality culture with what was then the Bergerhof inn. In those days the house was a typical South Tyrolean mountain inn, defined by a simple yet honest hospitality that drew hikers and locals alike.
In the mid-1980s, the next generation followed in their parents' footsteps as daughter Rosa took over the business. For many years she preserved the family heritage while setting the course for the future. Until the turn of the millennium, the Bergerhof, with around 15 rooms, remained a fairly tranquil retreat – but rising guest expectations led to a decisive turning point in the early 2000s. Through a major renovation and a comprehensive extension, the house grew to 24 rooms, bringing modern comfort and alpine style into harmony.
After more than three decades of devoted management, Rosa decided to lease the Bergerhof. Since then, the house has continued under new management as the Almhotel Bergerhof.
