Arrival and stay

When is check-in available?

We welcome you on the day of arrival between 14:00 and 18:00.

What should I do if I arrive after 18:00?

A later arrival is possible. Please let us know briefly by telephone so that we can prepare everything for your arrival.

When is check-out?

On the day of departure, we ask you to vacate the room between 08:00 and 11:00.

What should I bear in mind if I depart before 08:00?

If you depart early, we ask you to settle the room bill the day before.

Is free Wi-Fi available?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The password is “Bergerhof” and is displayed at reception and in the rooms.

Is free parking available?

Yes, there is a large free private car park directly at the hotel. No reservation is required.

Which services are included in the stay?

Included are a breakfast buffet with regional products, Wi-Fi, private parking, the Südtirol Guest Pass, a sauna area with tea and snack corner, a garden with sunbathing lawn and heated whirlpool, a children's playground, and bicycle and ski storage with ski boot heating. When half board is booked, a 3-course evening menu with salad buffet is also included.

Can I store my luggage before check-in or after check-out?

Yes, this is possible. We offer you the option of storing your luggage safely at our hotel on the day of arrival before check-in and on the day of departure after check-out, so that you can enjoy your stay in Sarntal without worry. Please let reception know briefly.

Is Almhotel Bergerhof open all year round?

Almhotel Bergerhof is open seasonally and is pleased to welcome you from Christmas to Easter and from May until the end of October.

Booking, payment and cancellation

How can I book?

The easiest way is to book directly via our website or by email at info@hotel-bergerhof.it. We will be happy to prepare a non-binding, personally tailored offer for you.

Why is it worthwhile booking directly?

With a direct booking, you are in direct contact with us. This allows us to take room preferences, dietary requirements and special requests into account from the outset.

When is the reservation binding?

Your reservation is confirmed and becomes binding as soon as we have received the deposit of 30 % of the total price.

How can I pay the deposit?

The deposit can be paid by bank transfer or credit card. You will receive the payment information with your booking confirmation.

What cancellation conditions apply?

If you cancel up to 31 days before arrival, no additional cancellation costs apply.
If you cancel between 30 and 15 days before arrival, a fee of 40% of the total amount booked applies.
If you cancel between 14 and 8 days before arrival, a fee of 60% of the total amount booked applies.
If you cancel within 7 days before arrival, a fee of 70% of the total amount booked applies.

In the event of early departure, late arrival or no-show, cancellation fees of 70% apply to the booked days not used. A deposit of 30% is payable when booking and, in the event of cancellation, remains with the accommodation provider in full.

The deposit already paid will be deducted from the applicable cancellation fee.

Is travel insurance required?

No. However, we recommend taking out travel insurance so that you are covered in the event of unforeseen circumstances. It can be added directly when booking on request.

Which payment methods are accepted?

We accept common payment methods such as cash as well as debit and credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and Maestro. American Express is not accepted. The deposit can be paid by bank transfer or credit card.

Is there a minimum stay?

Generally, no. However, a minimum length of stay may apply around public holidays and on particularly popular dates, such as New Year's.

When is the remaining balance paid?

The remaining balance must be paid at check-out.

Can I reschedule or change my booking?

We will be happy to check requests for changes subject to availability. Whether costs arise depends on the offer booked, the new travel period and the time of the change.

Location, arrival and mobility

Where is Almhotel Bergerhof located?

Our hotel is situated at around 1,250 metres on the quiet sunny slope of Reinswald in Sarntal Vally, surrounded by forests, meadows and the South Tyrolean mountains.

How far away is Bolzano?

Bolzano is around 25 kilometres away and can be reached by car in approximately 35 minutes.

Can I arrive without a car?

Yes. The nearest bus stop is approximately 100 metres from the hotel. By train, travel to Bolzano and continue from there by bus into Sarntal Vally.

Which bus connection goes to the hotel?

The final stage to Reinswald is usually on bus route 152. The nearest stop is called “Berger”. If it is not shown in the timetable, use the “Gufl” stop as your reference.

What is the Südtirol Guest Pass?

The Südtirol Guest Pass is included for our hotel guests and allows free use of public transport during the stay.

How much is the local tourist tax?

The local tourist tax is currently €3.20 per person per night and is paid on site. Children under the age of 14 are exempt.

What are the roads into Sarntal Vally like?

The access roads are well developed and are cleared in winter. In wintry conditions, you need suitable winter equipment; snow chains should be carried depending on the weather and road conditions.

Where can I find shops, petrol stations and charging stations?

Grocery shops and petrol stations can be found in Astfeld, approximately 5 kilometres away. Charging facilities for electric cars are available at the valley station in Reinswald, in Astfeld and in Sarnthein. The hotel does not currently have its own charging station.

Rooms and facilities

Which room categories are available?

We offer 7 individually designed room categories:

Durnholz double room (small double room with balcony),

Reinswald double room (double room with balcony),

Stoanerne Mandln triple room (triple room with balcony),

Urlesteig family room (family room with balcony),

Sattele double room (small double room without balcony),

Scharte double room (double room without balcony),

Getrum twin room (room with two single beds and balcony).

How are the rooms equipped?

All rooms have wooden flooring, comfortable beds, a desk with chair, safe, television and free Wi-Fi. In the bathroom you will find a shower, toilet, mirror, hairdryer, soap and toiletries.

Do all rooms have a balcony or bidet?

No. Please state preferences such as a balcony or bidet when booking so that we can select the right room category for you.

Which rooms are suitable for families?

Depending on occupancy, we recommend the Stoanerne Mandln triple room or the Urlesteig family room, accommodating three to five guests.

Are there connecting rooms?

No. On request, we will be happy to check whether two rooms directly next to each other are available. An early enquiry is recommended.

Are there rooms with separate beds?

Yes, the Getrum twin room has two single beds and a balcony.

Is there a refrigerator in the room?

Our rooms do not come with a refrigerator as standard. For medication or other medical purposes, we will be happy to provide a mini-fridge by prior arrangement.

Is the hotel accessible?

Our hotel is generally designed to be accessible. However, as some rooms have certain limitations, it is best to clarify this with us in advance. This allows us to respond precisely to your individual needs and reserve the right room for you.

Which preferences should I mention when booking?

Please mention preferences such as a balcony, bidet, separate beds, accessible facilities, a medically required mini-fridge or adjoining rooms when making your enquiry.

Is there a lift?

Yes, Almhotel Bergerhof has a lift.

Are cots or extra beds available?

Cots are available free of charge on request. Extra beds can be provided depending on the room category and availability; please mention the requirement when booking if possible.

Are bed linen and towels included?

Yes, bed linen and towels are included in the stay and are provided by the hotel.

Breakfast, dinner and dietary requirements

When is breakfast served?

Our breakfast buffet is available daily from 08:00 to 10:00.

When is dinner served?

We serve dinner between 18:30 and 20:00. You can take your seat at any time within this period.

What is included with half board?

In addition to breakfast, you can enjoy a daily changing 3-course evening menu with salad buffet.

Is there an à la carte menu?

No, we serve a changing daily menu with a small selection. If there is nothing suitable, we will be happy to find an alternative together.

Are vegetarian or vegan dishes available?

A vegetarian alternative is provided every day. Vegan dishes are only possible to a limited extent; please inform us before your arrival so that we can discuss the options.

Are allergies and intolerances taken into account?

Yes, we are happy to accommodate them if informed in advance. Please let us know your needs in good time before arrival.

Are drinks included?

Drinks offered as part of breakfast are included. Other drinks during the day and at dinner are charged separately to your room bill.

Can external guests eat in the restaurant?

Yes, external guests are welcome for breakfast or dinner with prior reservation.

Can my dog join me for meals?

Dogs are not allowed in the dining room. However, you can enjoy breakfast and dinner with your four-legged companion in our bar area.

Wellness and relaxation

What does the wellness area offer?

Our facilities include a whirlpool heated to approximately 35 °C, a sunbathing lawn and three saunas: Finnish sauna, infrared cabin and steam sauna.

Is use included?

Yes, the saunas, tea and snack corner, sunbathing lawn and heated whirlpool are included for hotel guests.

Are massages or beauty treatments available?

We do not offer treatments directly at the hotel. Around 500 metres away, you can book treatments using South Tyrolean products at “Eschgfeller”.

Are dogs allowed in the wellness area?

No, dogs are not permitted in the wellness area.

Is the whirlpool indoors or outdoors, and is it open all year round?

The heated outdoor whirlpool is available during both the summer and winter seasons.

Are bathrobes and sauna towels available?

Yes, bathrobes and sauna towels can be borrowed free of charge from reception.

Is the sauna area textile-free?

Yes, the sauna area is textile-free and is therefore only accessible to guests aged 18 and over.

Families and holidays with dogs

Is Almhotel Bergerhof family-friendly?

Yes. We offer spacious rooms, plenty of nature around the hotel and a children's playground directly at the hotel. There is no through traffic around the hotel.

What discounts apply for children?

With two full-paying guests in the room, children aged 0 to 2 stay free of charge. The discount is 75 % for children aged 3 to 5, 50 % for children aged 6 to 9 and 25 % for children aged 10 to 14. A discount of 10 % applies for an additional person in the room. The specific offer for your travel period is decisive.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes, dogs are very welcome. Please state how many dogs will accompany you when booking.

How much does a dog cost?

We currently charge €8 per dog per day for accommodation, excluding food.

In which areas are dogs not allowed?

Dogs are not permitted in the dining room or wellness area. You can enjoy your meals with your dog in the adjoining bar.

Is the surrounding area suitable for walks?

Yes, numerous paths through meadows and forests start around the hotel. Please be considerate of grazing animals, wildlife and other guests while out and about.

Summer and winter, hiking, motorcycling and skiing

What can I do directly from the hotel in summer?

Several hiking trails and bike tours start directly in the surrounding area. For destinations further away, you can use the nearby bus stop and the Südtirol Guest Pass.

Which summer activities are particularly popular in Sarntal?

In summer, hiking and biking through the South Tyrolean mountains around Reinswald in Sarntal are particularly popular. Popular, signposted destinations from Reinswald include the circular walk around Lake Durnholz, the ascent to the legendary Stoanerne Mandln, the tour to the Latzfonser Kreuz (Europe's highest pilgrimage site), the Sattele, and the family-friendly Urlesteig adventure trail with themed stations for children.

Is there bicycle storage?

Yes, a dedicated storage room is available for bicycles.

Do I need an e-bike?

Not necessarily, but an e-bike is a more comfortable choice for the sometimes steep sections of the mountain landscape around Reinswald.

What should I pack for summer evenings?

At around 1,250 metres, evenings can be cool even in midsummer. A light jacket or jumper should therefore be in your luggage.

Are there many mosquitoes?

Due to the altitude, the number of mosquitoes is usually lower than at lower elevations.

Can you swim in Lake Durnholz?

The lake is scenically beautiful, but the water is usually very cool. Swimming is therefore mainly for guests who are not sensitive to the cold.

Is the hotel suitable for a motorcycling holiday?

Yes, Sarntal is a good starting point for varied tours, for example over the Penser Joch. Your motorcycle can be parked directly at the hotel.

How far away is the Reinswald ski area?

The ski area is around 3 kilometres from the hotel.

Can I store my ski equipment at the hotel?

Yes, there is a ski storage room with ski boot heating.

How snow-sure is Reinswald?

Thanks to its altitude and modern snowmaking systems, Reinswald is considered very snow-sure in winter.

What is there to do in winter besides skiing?

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, the region around Almhotel Bergerhof offers a natural toboggan run in Reinswald, signposted winter hiking trails, challenging ski tours (e.g. to the Sattele or into the Getrumalm area), the cross-country ski trail in the Pensertal, an ice rink in the Labnes sports zone in Sarnthein, and the winter charm of the Alpenadvent Sarntal Vally.

Why is a holiday in Sarntal Valley worthwhile?

Sarntal Valley combines unspoilt nature, tranquillity and a wide range of opportunities for hiking, biking and skiing. At the same time, Bolzano can be reached in around 35 minutes by car.

Which excursion destinations are nearby?

Popular destinations include Lake Durnholz, the Reinswald hiking and ski area, Sarnthein, Bolzano and the Penser Joch.

Is a day trip to Bolzano worthwhile?

Yes. A stroll through the city can be easily combined with a holiday in the mountains.

Can I spend many days of my holiday without a car?

Yes. Thanks to the nearby bus stop, the Südtirol Guest Pass, the ski bus and tours starting directly at the hotel, many activities are possible without a car.

Where can I get personal excursion tips?

At reception, we will be happy to advise you on suitable activities tailored to the respective season and current weather conditions. Alternatively, you can obtain further information from the tourist information office in Sarnthein.

What is the weather like in the Sarntal Valley and Reinswald?

The weather in Reinswald – as you might expect in the mountains – can sometimes change its mind faster than a guest choosing a dessert. The Almhotel Bergerhof is located at an altitude of around 1,230 metres in the Sarntal Valley. Temperatures are therefore generally slightly cooler than in Bolzano, and weather conditions can change quickly.
